Shopping in Letterkenny
Any shopper seeking some retail therapy will love Letterkenny’s
excellent shopping centres and fashionable High Street Brands.
Letterkenny is a fantastic shopping destination, from large shopping
centres, to individual and charming boutiques. With ample parking as
well as some relaxing restaurants and coffee shops it’s quite easy to
spend a day browsing, sipping and shopping until your hearts content.
On Letterkenny Main Street
you'll find independent retailers alongside familiar high street names.
You will also find a wide range of cafes and traditional pubs. It's a
wonderful place for young and old alike to eat, shop and socialise day
and night.
Letterkenny also has some
large modern shopping centres with a variety of stores. The Courtyard
Shopping Centre is located opposite the Market Square and the
Letterkenny Shopping Centre is just beside the town bus station. The new
Forte Shopping Centre is located opposite the Radisson Hotel and
features many clothes shops.
Many national and international chain stores have branches in
these shopping centres and in other areas of the town, including Dunnes,
Tescos, Aldi, Penneys, TK Maxx, Marks & Spencers, Atlantic
Homecare, Argos, Eason, Elverys, Next, Lifestyle, Heatons, Lidl,
Supervalue, Tempest, Jean Scene, Toymaster, Paco, Xtravision,
Harry Corrys, Homebase and Halfords.
New shopping areas have sprung up in the town including the
retail parks on Canal Street and Pearse Street. Smaller streets such as
Church Street and Castle Street have grown in recent years with
businesses such as pharmacies, bakeries and fashion outlets. The Market
Square has had a major face lift in recent years, attracting fresh
business.
For gifts and souvenirs stroll along the Main Street to check the
various stalls and craft shops. With so much wonderful scenery in County
Donegal it is perhaps no surprise that many artists live and work in the
region. Their work can be purchased in Letterkenny galleries and
craftshops. Gallerie include the Cristeph Gallery, located on the Port
Road and the Ace of Arts Gallery on the Pearse Road
Each Saturday morning there is a "Car-Boot" sale held in the grounds of
the Letterkenny Community Centre on the Port Road, where all sorts of
unusual odds and ends can be bought as souvenirs.
